Women Build!
Women Build brings together women from all walks of life to address the housing crisis facing millions of women and children worldwide. In 2010, women successfully completed the Habitat home located at 659 Lunar Lane in Waterloo. With that success, Habitat has continued with monthly Women Build work days, taking part in National Women Build Week through Habitat for Humanity International and spent a week in July framing and roofing another Habitat home.
In 2012, Habitat’s goal is to fund and build our 5th Women Build home located at 314 Thompson Street in Waterloo. Again, we need your help: Volunteer crews are needed Monday through Friday for National Women Build Week, May 7-11, 2012. Crews of 4 to 10 volunteers are needed to raise walls and roof trusses, roofing and shingling and hanging exterior siding. Volunteers will work 8:30 to 3:30 with skilled Habitat construction staff. Individual volunteer opportunities to work in support of this project will be available on Thursdays, May-August, 2012. Individuals can also work on Saturdays, when smaller crews are scheduled. Crews of 4 to 10 volunteers are also needed on the following Saturdays to help complete this project: (volunteers will work 8:30 to 3:00 on Saturdays) June 2, 16, 23 and 30 July 14, 21 and 28 August 4, 18 and 25 |
